Great wall of china By Denizcan Ozdemir

Why was the Great Wall of China Built? Wall of China Built? Emperor Qin wanted to keep his country safe. There were many countries that were attacking China. The closest country was Mongolia. They wanted China’s land. That is why Emperor Qin had the wall built. He had both warriors and commoners build the wall.

What were the working conditions like? The working conditions were very bad. Emperor Qin had his workers handcuffed and chained their legs. If they didn’t obey him, sometimes he would have their heads chopped off or bury them alive. They were his slaves. They didn’t get much to eat and weren’t allowed to get sleep. These conditions caused many people to get sick and die.

Why did the wall take so long to build? PROBLEM GREAT WALL One problem was when the Ming Dynasty took over. They used marble and glass. It was hard to use with the clay. Another problem was the climate change. If it was humid and cloudy then the clay would stay mushy and it wouldn’t dry. When it rained it was very slippery and dangerous for the workers. The worst problem was when the Mongols attacked China. They went through the wall to do it and destroyed many parts of it. Therefore, it had to be rebuilt.
