Homeowner Assistance Investments to develop permanently affordable homeownership projects Downpayment assistance loans HomeSight is developing a limited-equity, residential housing cooperative at Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Holly Park Drive in South Seattle’s Othello Neighborhood.  All 68 units are affordable to families earning below 80% Area Median Income and below at the time of purchase. The ground floor will have one commercial unit and a central courtyard connected to interior amenity space equipped with a kitchen and a commercial size washer and drier. There will also be communal sun decks on floors two and four. The unit mix is 25 one-bedrooms, 35 two-bedrooms, and 8 three-bedrooms.

Affordable housing for older adults – projects in the pipeline

Pipeline: Affordable Housing for Seniors Filipino Community Village Located in Hillman City, next to Filipino Community Center 95 units, including studios and 1- bedrooms for seniors aged 55 and older Affordable at 30%, 50%, and 60% AMI Funded by OH in 2017, completion expected in late 2020 In addition to affordable senior housing, the Filipino Community Village will include an Innovation Learning Center. It will have a youth lounge, a space for a computer classes and a multi-purpose room for events like cultural dances. The learning center is set up to help promote technological literacy in the neighborhood. In addition to computer labs, the learning center will involve a robotics program and a science-technology-engineering-arts-math (STEAM) program. Image credit: Filipino Community of Seattle

Pipeline: Affordable Housing for Seniors Northhaven Senior Housing Located in Northgate, adjacent to Northgate mall and less than a mile from future light rail station 85 units, including studios and 1-bedrooms for seniors aged 55 and older Affordable at 30%, 50%, and 60% AMI Funded by OH in 2018 Ground floor: space for Providence ElderPlace, which will operate their PACE (Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly) program to provide comprehensive health care and social services in the building Image credit: Northaven Senior Housing

Pipeline: Affordable Housing for Seniors LGBTQ-Affirming Affordable Senior Housing Newly proposed site located on Broadway in Capitol Hill Current concept: 100-122 affordable homes for low-income seniors 55 years or older Capitol Hill Housing intends to submit an application for funding in 2019 (link to article in Madison Park Times) Image credit: Madison Park Times
