Our Class Rules Follow directions the first time Do your personal best Be a friend

Classroom Management Verbal Warning Verbal Warning and student will leave the activity and will go to the calm down corner. At the calm down corner the student will fill out a reflection sheet about their choice that they made. After 1 min. the student will rejoin the class. If the student goes the rest of the day without another visit to the calm down corner, the parent will not be notified. However, if the behavior continues, the teacher will call the parent and will share the behavior that occurred. The reflection sheet will be sent home, with the purpose of a parent/child conversation before the next school day as well as returned with a parent signature. If a reflection sheet is sent home three times in a week, a parent conference will occur in order to decide a behavior plan.

Bucket Filling In this class, we will read the book, “Fill a Bucket: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Young Children” quite consistently. As your child learns the daily rhythms of our class, they will also learn about “bucket filling” behavior. This behavior stems around the idea that everyone carries around an invisible bucket that throughout the day is being filled by the kind things that you do for others or that others do for you. A bucket filler is someone who is showing positive character traits (kind, considerate, caring, respectful) and is being a responsible citizen. Throughout the week, students will have the chance to gain pom-poms for their bucket. At the end of the day on Friday, if your child has earned 25 or more pom-poms, they will have a choice of: lunch with the teacher, bringing in their favorite book, bringing in a stuffed animal, and so much more!

Yellow Folders Sent out on Monday, will need to be returned the next day The items in this folder will be things from the office (ex: art club sign ups, choir, or scholastic information.

Red Folder Monthly Calendar Will be check for completion at the end of the month. I realize that you may have a few busy days and not get to some homework and that is ok. Reading Logs Please read for at least 15 mins with your child every night. The log will be checked for weekly completion on Fridays. Weekly Pick Up Sheet These will be sent home on Friday so that they can be filled out for the upcoming school week. These forms help me know how your child will get home at the end of the day OR if they will be leaving early during the school day. For example, if you child will be going to Lion’s Gate all week, please indicate that on the form. It helps me remember to remind the student.

Grading Scale Stamp or happy face = right where you need to be Check with a plus = a few errors but almost there Check with a comment= will show you what skill may need to be practiced at home
