2020 Provision The Children and Social Work Act was passed in March 2017, making relationships and sex education statutory. The New provision will start in September 2020 all secondary schools are required to provide relationships and sex education and all primary schools are required to provide relationships education The new legislation applies to all schools. The requirement for all secondary schools is for relationships and sex education, which adds to the existing requirement for sex education. Parents will still have the right to withdraw children form RSE that sits outside of the Science Curriculum Updated Government guidance on RSE will be published ahead of September 2019.
