Trimester 3 Week 3 &4 FMP pitch Final Major Project

During week 1 -4 you should complete : Identify your strengths within creative media Identify the skills you have gained within creative media Explore possible ideas for your Final major project Originate range of ideas for FMP – at least three Produce SWOT analysis of your project ideas Analyse each idea for viability – use focus groups and lecturer to support your decision. Fill in Project Proposal form (first draft) Prepare for the FMP pitch

Week 3 &4 objectives: By the end of the week 4 you will finalize and present your project proposal. This will be in form of formal presentation for which you will have to have your UAL proposal document fully completed as well as Power Point Presentation with the following slides questions answered:

FMP Proposal pitch (not all questions will be relevant to your own project) Title: Tag Line: (Key question being asked) Duration: (5-10 minutes for video and audio piece or how many pages or spreads you are intending your article to be in case of print work) Target Audience: Medium you are planning to use: Video, Audio, Print, Interactive Genre / Format: Give specific examples of type of programs, or style of writing / newspaper or magazine you intend you project to be. Synopsis: 2-3 sentence Overview of what the audience should expect to see, hear or read. Treatment: More detailed breakdown of style and content

Tag line Tag Line: (Key question being asked / working hypothesis) My project will show that … The main argument / conflict is .. I want audience to feel / understand ……

Target audience Who are you making your project for Give target audience demographics Give convincing answer why your target audience would be interested in your project.

Synopsis example What is your project about? In one paragraph no more than five sentences explain what is your project about and what your target audience should expect to see, listen to or read. Example: Cherry Healey explores the challenges of motherhood and asks people about their different approaches to parenting. Among those she meets a mother who is in favour of smacking her children, a liberal mum and a woman facing a crisis with her teenage daughter.

Treatment questions to answer What. What is the key question you are asking? Who. Who is in the film, audio piece etc. Where. Where will you film, record, take images etc How. How will you put your final product together?

What is the key question? What are the issues you want your viewer, listener to think about? Your film, audio, print based subject (person, group, environment, social issues etc.) Background information about the topic and how are you going to put this across in your project. Include your research in this section. Interesting facts or statistics Archives sourced End on the key question you would like your viewers to be asking themselves while watching the documentary, listening to audio or looking at print based product.

Who is in the film, audio piece etc.? For example: Describe the main characters /interviewees. Presenter: Cherry Healey is a… Characters (example): Mum & Teenage Daughter Couple & Boys Single Mum Expert 1. Psychologist Expert 2. Academic discussing statistics Celbrity Describe each contributor. What makes them special?, is it their experience, their knowledge, their personality, …

Where will you film, record or take images? Describe what the final product will look like. What are the locations? How will it be shot, recorded etc?

4.How Will You Put It Together? What will be the style of the video, audio or print work – be specific give examples of your influences. What tone of the voce you are going to give to your product, is it going to be serious, funny, trendy etc.

Design a research plan You need to come up with a research plan that will cover the following areas: 1. Topic research 2. Target audience 3. Skills and techniques that you need to have and practice 4. Production planning research What needs to be researched? Method Technique Refer to your project idea , list all the areas which need to be researched. Identify if you will need to use primary, secondary or quantitative, qualitative If your method is primary, which technique will you use to research? It could be conducting interviews.
