Domestic Abuse: Viewpoint Writing Read the article on domestic abuse Highlight key facts and information you can use in your own article. Watch this clip and make notes. Domestic Abuse - The Impact on Children What knowledge can you transfer about domestic abuse from Purple Hibiscus? Viewpoint Task: “Domestic abuse affects the children as much as the adults in the situation. Abuse sufferers need help” Write an article which explores solutions to help children who are victims of domestic abuse Respond to this poster. What does it make you think/feel and why?

Decide your three reasons for or against the statement. Plan using: Reasons (Why do you think this?) Response (What do you think should happen?) Result (How this will resolve the issue?) Some ideas that you can use to help you write your viewpoint: You can use these points anywhere and you can repeat them if you want to. State your viewpoint – reword the statement into your opinion Use a rhetorical question and repeat it in the conclusion Include reasons, response and results in every paragraph (expect the conclusion) Include a statistic and a list of information to build on your opinion Create an anecdote that shows an experience or story that you have heard about (the impact on people’s lives would work) Ensure you state what you want to happen as a result of your letter Describe a solution to the problem Conclude with your recommendation to solve the issue Viewpoint Task: “Domestic abuse affects the children as much as the adults in the situation. Abuse sufferers need help” Write an article which explores solutions to help children who are victims of domestic abuse
