February 27, 2012 Objective: You will be able to improve a solution design using the technological design process. Warm-up: How have cell phones changed in the last 20 years? Why haven’t they always looked like they do now?

Remember, engineers design solutions to problems. But they don’t stop at the first design, they keep improving!

Technological Design Loop

Desalinization Reflection, pgs. 5-6 Not everyone’s design was successful in collecting water. 3 minutes: Discuss your reflection with your group. 2 minutes: Share your reflection thoughts with another group

Successful Designs What do they all have in common?

Salty Water Cleanup Redesign Work with your group to redesign your desalination plant so it makes more clean water Label evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection on your diagram. You may NOT build your design until I have checked your plans! The group with the most clean water collect wins a prize!

If you finish early… Read a book Read a magazine Work from other classes Draw Ms. Gumas a picture You must remain seated at your table.

Exit Ticket, 2/27 How is your work today in class like the work of an engineer? How have you improved on your earlier design?
