ELAGSE8RI7: Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of using different mediums (e.g., print or digital text, video, multimedia) to present a particular topic or idea. ELAGSE8RI9: Analyze a case in which two or more texts provide conflicting information on the same topic and identify where the texts disagree on ELAGSE8SL1: Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions

Instructional Activities Daily Reading Practice Warm-Up Literary Vocabulary (Out of the Dust) daily study – Quiz on next Tuesday, 3/12. Identifying and Analyzing Argumentative Essay Components – review essay deconstructed on essay graphic organizer by students I-Ready Reading Growth Monitor Collaborative/alternative instruction with Media Specialist on word roots and affixes Grade Repair Day/Online Study – students who owe past due tasks are offered opportunity to do in-class grade recovery; other students will use Quizlet.com to practice Out of the Dust literary vocabulary study set Georgia versus The Dustbowl- Collaborative partners will complete a student inquiry on what was happening in these two United States regions during the 1930’s. Findings will be plotted on a timeline.
