Why study the LLB at Strathclyde? Degree Structure Much of the first two/three years of study is composed of mandatory subjects though scope for third year electives for students on the LLB (Hons) (Scots Law) degree. Significant scope for electives in Honours and potential for students to specialise in certain areas of interest e.g. environmental law, human rights law, commercial/trade law, criminal law, international law. Numerous research centres at Strathclyde which inform teaching

LLB Degree structure Structure of degree means that students can switch between the LLB (Hons) Scots Law degree and the LLB (Hons) Scots and English degree. Hence no need to apply to both degrees. The Clinical degree may be applied for as part of UCAS or when students arrive in September. Entry to the Clinic is a precondition of admission to the Clinical degree and involves a formal application and interview. Entry is very competitive. The same academic criteria apply to the Clinical degree so again, no need to make multiple applications. If applying for Law with Language in addition to standard LLB, separate application is recommended.

LLB academic entry requirements Minimum offer - AAAAB – ABBBB in one sitting, or AAAABBB – AABBBB in Higher/Advanced Higher subjects in two sittings. National 5 Maths at C and Higher English at B. Minimum Higher B in Language if applying for Law and Language HND in Legal Services with AAA - AAB in the graded units. We do not accept HNC. Also note the three year rule. We do not require, nor do we take into account, the LNAT. SWAP to Humanities with AAA grade profile. Pre-entry Course pass with 70% - English and Law required. Second year entry not possible for any of our Scots law qualifying degrees.

Selection/Admissions Admission to full-time study is via the UCAS. Admissions processed centrally within Faculty (not by the Law School) with a gathered field in operation. Entry very competitive (almost 1,200 applications for circa 125 places). All aspects of the application are taken into account We are committed to Widening Access (SIMD 0 – 40, low progression schools – refer to website). Care Leavers.
