Ultimate Access for Law Enforcement INTRODUCTION By NIRO Crime Analysis

ANY criminal justice employee who needs to The Who …no, not the band This course is for: ANY criminal justice employee who needs to keep track of data

The What This course will provide instruction on: Tables - where data is stored Queries - asking ?s of the data Forms - to better read data Reports - summary of the data

The Why A database provides the ability to manage your data that CANNOT be captured elsewhere such as an RMS (records management system) or CAD (computer aided dispatch) It provides the ability to capture data, query (or ask questions of) the data, make it more readable, and summarize the data to disseminate accordingly While it can be labor intensive at first, once it is ready for use, your processes can be automated with single clicks, which will then perform tasks that used to take hours We ALL need more information than our systems provide and this is how we can do that for ourselves and community

The Where and The When Here and now! Watching this is your first step to getting yourself trained to create your own database to supplement your current systems in place. Do it at the office or in the comfort of your own home when you want to. This program will be available to you upon purchase to use at your own pace. Wherever and whenever! This course will be broken down into several components (video and PDFs) for you to consume when you have the time.

The How What you will need: A computer Internet access (for any streaming you may do) Microsoft Access You should be able to get away with 2010 or higher but some options and screens and toolbars will vary The determination to build and create something for you, your team, your agency and/or your community Some patience Access is not easy for some to pick up and learn but it does provide great value in terms of data management. It will be worth it!
