FASH 84 portfolio presentation work philosophy

work philosophy statement of your beliefs about yourself, people and you outlook on life in your industry often used by interviewer to see if you match company’s corporate culture

work philosophy what you need to know about your philosophy: think about it—don’t expect to “whip out” a work philosophy in 10-20 minutes place your most important belief first—should be unique to you, communicate who you are, what makes you different length—should be 1-4 sentences in length use bullets—consider using for clarity have a friend review it for clarity—remember they are checking for clarity, not approval

work philosophy examples: Work Philosophy The customer always comes first. Financial and operational controls must be clear to all members of the company. Technology will be critical in reaching the guests and communicating within the company. I want to be part of a winning team.

work philosophy examples: Work Philosophy I believe the hospitality industry offers opportunity, challenge and excitement. Employees need to be educated and trained to succeed and take charge. Doing the job “right” the first time helps to create efficiency and profit.

work philosophy participation activity: brainstorming …find a partner in class or outside of class …have both your friend and yourself list five adjectives that describe who you are and how you want to be seen in the workplace …ask your partner/friend to react to your list—do they agree? do you agree with their list? …use these adjectives to help guide your work philosophy statement
