Downtown Doral Charter Elementary School DDCES is a Bilingual Charter School whose mission is to provide students with a comprehensive dual curriculum and bicultural/bilingual education. Before introducing ourselves we want to restate our mission statement. DDCES has an assigned police officer to monitor our school. Two security guards. Morning and afternoon shift. Entrance door is locked at ALL times! In order to come into the school you must buzz the office at the door. You can not enter through the side door.

Sweater must have their Downtown Doral Charter Elementary School has a mandatory uniform policy. All school polo's and pants must have DDCES logo. Attendance is ESSENTIAL to succeed in school! After 8:30 am student will be considered TARDY. After three tardies your child will receive a detention. After three detentions your child’s privilege to attend a school event will be revoked. If your child is ABSENT an excused note must be signed and turned in no later than 3 days after absence. - An excused note is a Doctor’s note. Other reason(s) for absence will be determined and approved by teacher and administration Perfect Attendance recognition will only be for students that have 0 absences and 0 tardies. *

Parent Student drop-off: Two Dismissal Options: FIRST TWO DAYS OF SCHOOL ONLY 8/19/19 – 8/20/19 Parent Student drop-off: Parent must park and pick up their child in the classroom by 3:15 p.m. Dismissal Procedure 8/21/19 – School Years Two Dismissal Options: Student Pick- Up Drive Thru – Large sign will be given to display on car window shield. * If you do not have a sign, you will have to wait until dismissal procedure is over to pick up your child.* No dismissal is permitted half an hour before the end of the school day, unless authorized by administration. (2:30 pm) ** PLEASE let the office know 24 hours in advance if your child’s dismissal procedure is changing.**

Each family has to volunteer 20 hours through out the school year. Must volunteer, donation of school supplies does not count. All volunteers must be cleared by Miami Dade County Public Schools. Meeting: 8/30/19 at 9:00 am Parent Voluteer Homeroom helpers! Room parent meeting 9/3/19 Two parents are needed to help the teacher. If you’re interested please contact the teacher. The first two parents to e-mail will be selected.

- Badges from last year are still valid until October 11th. Parent ID Badges - Badges from last year are still valid until October 11th. A special sticker will be given to parents once they are cleared as a volunteer. Parent will place the special sticker on the ID badge - Volunteer Clearance-parents must first complete the process on the Dade Schools portal. - Once they receive the email stating they are clear, they come to the office to complete the process. - Dade Schools Portal for volunteer clearance begins August 16th. ** October 11- Parents without the 2019-2020 badge and sticker will need to check into the office for a visitor’s sticker. NO EXCEPTIONS. **

Homework will be uploaded on our Kinder website every Friday. Please print and have it ready for the School week. http://ddceskinder.weebly.com/ Homework will be given on a daily basis. Homework will be due on Monday of the following week. Monday-Thursday: Reading/Language Arts Homework Mathematics Homework Spanish Lengua/Contenido Homework Friday: Read for 30 minutes/ i-ready Homework should not take a long time. - 30 minutes content and 30 minutes of reading

Free breakfast will be available everyday from 7:45 am until 8:15am in the cafeteria. Parents must leave the cafeteria at 8:00 a.m.

Each child should bring a small labeled bag with a healthy snack on a daily basis. Suggestions Apples Grapes Crackers Gold fish Pretzel's Snack time will be in the afternoon.
