“Good things come to those who believe, better things come to those who are patient and the best things come to those who don’t give up or let anyone in their way” Decoding / Paraphrase (#1) The quote is saying that if you have faith, it will take you a long way. But you have to be patient because it takes time to achieve what you really want. It is also saying that the journey won’t be easy and will have obstacles, so you have to work hard if you really want it. But don’t give up because then you would have wasted your time and you won’t achieve anything other than failure. Also, don’t let anyone stand In your way of you being successful. I added that part because I’ve lost 90% of my friends throughout high school due to the fact that a lot of them held me back. I think this quote applies to everyone who has goals that they want to achieve or dreams that they want turned into goals.

Diction/Syntax(#2) This quote used didactic and rhetorical effect. It is teaching you a lesson in this quote about how you should handle your journey to achieving what you want in life, and gives you advice or encouragement that’s applicable to everyone. That is the purpose of didactic. It also constantly chronologically repeated “things”. “Good things", "Better things”, and “Best things”, are all used in progression form to get the point across that to get the best result comes from combining all of those actions together. That’s a form of rhetorical effect. Believing, being patient, and not giving up are encouraging word choices that will touch many people who strive to be the best they can be.

Why It’s important to me(#3) This quote really spoke to me and is important to me because I personally have a ton of dreams that I strive to achieve. I always believe in myself but I am extremely impatient and I have a bad habit of giving up on myself when things don’t go right the first time. So this quote really helps me on a daily basis because it encourages me to be a better person. Compared to previous years ,my patience have gotten better due to this quote. My 8th grade science teacher actually showed me that picture the first day of school and I’ve remembered it since then. It really has made me a better person. I give myself second chances now . The next slide shows a quote that I chose for a project similar to this one on the last day of my 8th grade year that was inspired by that quote showed to me on my first day. The one of the left is done by me and the one on the right is the original.
