Myths Busted The bilingual program is a gifted program. FALSE Both programs are taught using the Australian Curriculum. TRUE The ACE and ACJ children don’t eat or play together. The Bilingual Program is being phased out.
What will the children learn in each pathway? Australian Curriculum English Australian Curriculum Japanese English Japanese The classroom teacher/s speaking in English All Australian Curriculum Learning Areas taught in English (except Language) Maths HASS – History/Geography Science Languages (specialist Japanese teacher PE (specialist teacher) Music (specialist teacher) Art (specialist teacher) Each class has 2 teachers each day. One teacher speaks Japanese and one speaks English. The English teacher teaches the Australian Curriculum: HASS – History The Japanese teacher teaches the Australian Curriculum: HASS – Geography Japanese teachers also teach Japanese literacy and some specific Japanese Maths skills.
How much time will my child spend learning in each subject? English – 7 hours Maths – 5 hours Science – 1 hour HASS – 1 hour The Arts – 1 hour Health and Physical Education – 30 mins ACE ACJ Languages – 30 mins / Japanese Literacy – 4 hours
