TRUTH MUST BE SPOKEN Luke 1, 3 Matthew 3 Mark 1 John 1
John’s so-called crime against society was teaching the truth. Herod Antipas had an interest in the teachings of John. John relied on the truth to determine what is right and what is wrong. He reprimanded Antipas for marrying his brother Philip’s wife Herodias (Luke 3:18-20; Mark 6:17-20).
Did John hate adulterers? Was John an “adulterophobe”? Love of God demands a love for His truth (cf. 1 John 5:2-3). John’s mission was to turn disobedient hearts to God. John 1:7; 3:20; Ephesians 5:11
Did John hate adulterers? Was John an “adulterophobe? “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.” One man and one woman are to become one in marriage (Genesis 2:24). What God joins man is not to sever (Matthew 19:6). “You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife” (Exodus 20:17). God hates divorce (Malachi 2:14, 16).
The truth about sexual immorality must still be preached today. True lovers of God are lovers of truth. John 15:18; 2 Timothy 3:12 The freedom of truth demands that it must be both proclaimed and upheld (cf. John 8:31-32). “Have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?” (Galatians 4:16) “…speaking the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:14-15)
The truth about sexual immorality must still be preached today. Fornicators, adulterers, homosexuals and all sensual persons must repent to be saved (cf. Luke 13:3; John 8:11). “Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.” (Hebrews 13:4) “Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.” (Luke 16:18)
The truth about sexual immorality must still be preached today. “Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.” (1 Corinthians 6:18) “For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God” (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5)
The truth about sexual immorality must still be preached today. The sexual immoral must be converted and transformed (cf. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11). DO NOT FEAR WHAT MEN CAN DO TO YOU! (cf. Matthew 10:28) Do not fear repercussions… Do not fear being labeled…
