REMARKS ON JEUL COMPANY SURVEYS Pavel Mertlík ŠAVŠ 27. 5. 2019 Sitzung des Verwaltungsrats ŠKODA AUTO HOCHSCHULE g.G. 02/2018 am 07. 11. 2018 Hinweis: Der Inhalt unterliegt der Geheimhaltungspflicht

Information Sources Company surveys in CN and VN are not identical and the findings are therefore not fully comparable Student feedback provided neither by CN nor by VN  further limitation of the available data The identifications of skill gaps are consequently tentative only 2

Knowledge, Skill and Curicular Gaps found in CN practical (vocational) education (training of skills to complement the theoretical knowledge) soft skills (communication, problem solving, teamwork, management skills, pressure tolerance) leadership skills practical corporate experience (internships, on-job training et sim.) collaborative enterprise-university training courses and student team projects entrepreneurial spirit of students, including the start-up culture social responsibility / business ethics 3

Knowledge, Skill and Curicular Gaps found in VN soft skills (communication, problem solving, teamwork, management skills) leadership skills Internet security knowledge certain up-to date technical knowledge and skills professional writing literacy practical corporate experience (internships, on-job training etc.) practical (vocational) education (training of skills to complement the theoretical knowledge) 4

Knowledge, Skill and Curicular Gaps found in VN collaborative enterprise-university training courses and student team projects developing entrepreneurial spirit of students, including the start-up culture 5

Knowledge, Skill and Curicular Gaps found in VN The comparison of the results of the two surveys reveal that in CN, unlike in VN, the employers do not feel major gaps in: technical knowledge of students and alumni (including computer literacy and internet security) writing literacy and computational literacy Oher gaps in the preparedness of students for jobs felt by employers in both countries are identical or similar: practical experience, training and skills soft skills 6

Further Remark In both country surveys there were not covered the topics of: language proficiency intercultural competences They apparently are out of scope in both countries, not felt as an issue We however suspect that significant knowledge and skill gaps exist in those areas, too! 7
