Presentation transcript:

Left Ventricular Mass at MRI and Long-Term Risk of Cardiovascular Events: The Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA) Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) at MRI was an independent predictor of coronary heart disease events, including myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease–related death, other cardiovascular disease–related death, and heart failure (P < .001 for all end points). Over 15 years of follow-up, LVH was a stronger predictor of coronary artery disease–related death, other cardiovascular disease–related death, and heart failure than was coronary artery calcium score (z scores: 5.4 vs 3.4, 6.8 vs 2.4, and 9.7 vs 3.2, respectively). Kaplan-Meier analysis shows the cumulative incidence of hard coronary heart disease events for participants with LVH versus those without LVH. Kawel-Boehm N et al.
