Determining goals for personal leadership development Lori Robinson Zonta Club of Brampton – Caledon District 4

“The only thing that is constant is change” Heraclitus

Lifelong learning is the "ongoing, voluntary, and self-motivated" pursuit of knowledge for either personal or professional reasons. Therefore, it not only enhances social inclusion, active citizenship, and personal development, but also self-sustainability, as well as competitiveness and employability. Wikipedia

What is continuous learning?

7 ways lifelong learning will benefit you 1. Remain relevant 2. Prepare for the unexpected 3. Boost you profile  4. Competence leads to confidence 5. Sparks new ideas 6. Change your perspective 7. Pay it forward

Find a learning style that works for you Visual Auditory Kinesthetic

Here are some questions to help us reflect on and self-evaluate our own performance as leaders: 1. What are you good at? 2. Who are you are serving? 3. What values do you hold? 4. How can you align your values and expertise with your actions?

Determining goals for personal leadership development

Remember: your finished personal development leadership plan represents where you are now and where you hope to go. Revisit your plan often, updating it and tweaking it as needed, so that it reflects where you are on the road to becoming a great leader. Then, put them in order of importance and/or time it will take to achieve said goals. You now have a road map for achieving your goals and becoming the leader you want to be! To see what all of personal leadership development planning can look like once complete, see this example provided by Yale University. Remember: your finished personal development leadership plan represents where you are now and where you hope to go. Revisit your plan often, updating it and tweaking it as needed, so that it reflects where you are on the road to becoming a great leader
