Religious Education Character Curriculum English Our first book this half term is called ‘What do you do with a tail like this?’ For this non-fiction text we will be exploring the use of language and how we can use adjectives to our own writing as well as starting sentences in different ways. At the end of the journey we will create our own book answering the question, ‘What do you do with shoes like these?’ Our second book is ‘What I Like’. This book is filled with many amazing poems that we will explore and think about how they make us feel. We will get a chance to listen and explore similarities, differences, likes and dislikes before writing our own senses poem based around one of our favourite places. Religious Education Our big question this half term is “Who is Jesus?” We will be looking at the life of Jesus and how he helped others. Maths This half term starts with us consolidating addition and subtraction and using new strategies to add numbers accurately up to 20. We will be exploring patterns with number bonds to 20 as well having many problem solving and reasoning opportunities to explain our mathematical understanding. We then move onto place value to 50. This will include comparing, ordering and writing numbers to 50 as well as exploring multiples of 2, 5 and 10. Character Curriculum This half term we will be exploring the virtues of cleanliness and orderliness; fairness and sharing with others; friendliness and how to make a new friend. Year 1 Spring Term 1 Topic: Celebrate Britain Big Question: What makes Britain ‘Great’? Wow Start: Where are we?
