The deduced polypeptides encoded by MAGE-E1 mRNAs are schematically demonstrated. All of them possess the NH2-terminal 348 amino acids. MAGE-E1b is identical to MAGE-E1a except for 2 amino acids missing in the COOH terminus. MAGE-E1c lacks a large portion of COOH-terminal half and has a distinct 66-amino acid tail. ▪, MAGE-conserved domain. B, homology of deduced MAGE-E1a polypeptides with other MAGEs.
