Design Specification Before beginning to design you will need to decide a number of aspects: What is the purpose/function of your cushion -designed for your bedroom or an arm chair in a modern style living room. Who is it going to be used by (target group) What style e.g. abstract, graffiti, floral etc. What trends are going to influence your product? What cost range are you aiming for? What aspects have you considered about the sustainability of your cushion? Does it need to be of a particular size? measurements From the above questions you will be able to write down some guidelines that should make sure that the product will be successfully designed to the needs identified – this is called a design specification.

Design Specification:- Function/purpose The cushion shape should be eye catching. The purpose of this cushion is to give extra comfort when sitting but also add extra decorative interest to the room. The room is a modern living room. It will need to look modern and bright to suit the type of living room for a young man (between the ages 19-25.) So at this stage I am thinking of putting a bright embroidery on the front. 2. Target group . 3. Appearance/style. 4. Sustainability. The above thoughts needs to be turned into a list of specifications points that are listed opposite. 5. Cost 6. Measurements.
