The Scripture has a lot to say about friends (good & bad) as well as the consequences of choosing them.

A man of many friends comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Prov 18:24

Wealth adds many friends, but a poor man is separated from his friend. Prov 19:4

Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy. Prov 27:6

Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up. Eccl 4:9-10
