FAFSA – Opens Oct 1 For best results, apply now Guaranteed Assurance Programs Require this

Deadline for Most College Scholarships either through the ApplyTexas or on their website is December 1st.

Why Scholarships? How do I compete with Brainiacs? If you worked at a part-time job at $11 per hour to save $500, that would be over 45 hours of work Or you could spend a couple of hours work in preparing a scholarship application and the reward may pay out big time ($100 up to full tuition or more).

How do I apply for scholarships if I'm an incoming freshman? Create an account on www.applytexas.org and begin your application for admission to the University Select the appropriate application type and semester of entry. Proceed through the application for admission. After completing page 9 of the application for admission, you will be taken to page 1 of the scholarship application. Please click on "apply for scholarships". Complete the scholarship pages and then move to the essay section to complete your application. Be sure to check the scholarship section certification box. Submit your applications!

Elite Scholarships Leadership Programs Honors College Terry Scholars Program

Terry Foundation The Terry Foundation is a Houston-based scholarship program founded to provide scholarships to outstanding Texas High school graduates for attendance at public colleges and universities within the state. Established in 1986 by Houston philanthropists Howard & Nancy Terry, the Foundation has assisted hundreds of Terry Scholars in meeting the Founders' goal of helping young people to help themselves. Terry Scholar award amounts are determined annually based on the cost of attendance, including tuition, fees, books, on-campus room and board and miscellaneous expenses. The actual amount of the award will vary for each scholar depending on other scholarship awards and the ability of the scholar's family to contribute to the cost of college.

Terry Scholars Unlike many scholarship programs, the selection of a Terry Scholar is not simply based on financial need, test scores, or grade point average. Instead, Terry Scholars are chosen because they exhibit a well-rounded personality, grounded in a desire to succeed, and a demonstrated history of community leadership. The Terry Foundation program does not consist merely of issuing checks once a semester; it is a sense of family and community. Scholars are expected to participate in Student Organizations and to be involved on campus. Similarly, Alumni often remain active and are eager to assist in many capacities. The Foundation stays in close contact with Scholars and expects current Scholars and Alumni to assist each other whenever they are able to do so.
