What does Europe mean to you and me, young citizens? MY EUROPE ! YOUR EUROPE ! What does Europe mean to you and me, young citizens?

SUMMARY The project “My Europe! Your Europe!” aims to give senior high-school students the opportunity to think about what Europe means to them as a student at school, in their first job, in their private life, … These young people ask questions like… - What are my concerns, issues, questions, feelings, … when it comes to Europe? - What value has Europe created for me so far? How do I see and experience Europe every day? - What are the challenges for Europe to guarantee a better future for me? Students search for answers to these questions. They share the answers with other students throughout Europe. And they share their experiences with the European politicians in Brussels. They use short video reports to create their messages and use eTwinning to share them. The messages the students are gathered in an overall report that will be presented to the European President, mr. Tusk, in the spring of 2018.

OVERVIEW Starting-point What does Europe mean to you and me? Project “My Europe! Your Europe!”: How does it work? Practical info Contact

STARTING-POINT You and I are high-school students preparing for a future as citizens, to study, work and build a life in our countries, in Europe. Europe is a part of our lives and you and I are part of Europe.

WHAT DOES EUROPE MEAN TO YOU AND ME? Question 1 You and I, as soon as we are 18, we will be invited to participate in the European elections. Are you and I ready for it, do you and I know what European politics and institutions are all about, and do you and I feel interested and involved in Europe?

WHAT DOES EUROPE MEAN TO YOU AND ME? Question 2 Thanks to the “Erasmus” project, you and I, we can go to another country in Europe or even outside Europe, to study and to meet other people, learn and discover other cultures. What other opportunities did Europe create for you and me?

WHAT DOES EUROPE MEAN TO YOU AND ME? Question 3 In a few years time, you and I will be players on the job market, earning a living for ourselves, for our partners and families. How does Europe build a future where you and I have a good balance between work and life, a future that offers hope and perspectives for generations to come?

PROJECT MY EUROPE! YOUR EUROPE! HOW DOES IT WORK? Schools in Belgium, the UK, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland are contacted about this project A class group of students of each school can participate The school teams (coached by a teacher) communicate with each other through the eTwinning platform (free of charge) http://www.etwinning.net The project starts mid-October 2017 and runs until mid-March 2018 Each student needs to invest on average 1,5 hour per week on the project The project work is done by doing research making short videos + writing short reports (text that tells the story of the video) on concrete European topics in the lives of young people

PHASES: In the beginning of October, the Broederschool Humaniora, a school situated in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, will kick-off the project by launching a short video to the other schools the teachers of the different schools will communicate with each other and define the “topics” each school will work on (via eTwinning) the students can get to know each other (via eTwinning) As of mid-October, the students can start the project work every month, new videos and reports are shared on the etwinning platform the students can discuss their experiences, views, opinions, … The MEP’s of the participating countries will be aware of the project and monitor the outcome

PROJECT MY EUROPE! YOUR EUROPE! HOW DOES IT WORK? PHASES: By March 2018, all project topics will be covered the video material and text material is presented by all the teachers in a format that can be presented to the European President, mr.Tusk, during a big online European conference meeting
