Eastern and Western Philosophy

Education the East the West Know your juniors/seniors. Class harmony is important. Freshmen orientation is very important. Students may feel awkward asking questions or visiting the professor’s office. Students act differently to their juniors from their seniors. Class participation is encouraged. Students can question and disagree with the teacher. Students are encouraged to take a gap year (a year off between high school and university). Able to call the professor by his/her first name. Majors are chosen because students want to choose them, not because of the SAT score. Tuition is very expensive.

The Rising Cost of Tuition England public universities (avg $12,000 USD) / year US public universities in your home state (avg $10,000 USD) / year US public universities out of state (avg $26,000 USD) / year US private universities (avg $35,500 USD) / year Canada public universities ($6,500 USD) / year * For international students the price of tuition is usually higher

Discussion 1. Why are you attending university? What is your plan after university? 2. Why are you taking this class? What do you wish to know by the end of this course? 3. Would you like to study abroad? If so, where would you like to go? 4. Do you want to go to graduate school? 5. What is your impression (or experience) of the differences between Korean (Eastern) universities (schools) and Western universities (schools)?
