Qualities and Attributes We Seek Public Accounting Appearance and Manner (I) Social manners and dress are appropriate for a professional person. Technical Competence (R) Accounting grades relative to overall GPA. Accounting related work experience. Teamwork (R) Group oriented activities and hobbies. Works effectively with others. Tactful and diplomatic in sensitive situations. Integrity (I) No unresolved inconsistencies in the interview. Loyalty to a principle, family, organization, etc. Motivation (I) Consistently seeks opportunities for more responsibility/challenges. Works well without supervision.

Qualities and Attributes We Seek Public Accounting Leadership (R) Held elective offices; recipient of leadership awards. Demonstrates experience at “taking charge”. Generates enthusiasm in others. Knowledge of the Firm/Profession (I) Demonstrates research done on the Firm. Avoids generic questions/topics. Intelligence (R) Academic performance; grades continuously high or steadily improved. Uses logical thought process. Ability to think quickly on his/her feet. Ambition (R) College job experiences relate to grade point average. Excels in outside activities and has vision of career goals. Adjustment (R) Balances school, personal and work life. Effectively manages related stress. Readily adjusts to multiple demands/shifting priorities.

Maturity and Judgment (I) Evidence of logical thinking behind answers to questions. Priorities in allocating time. Communication Skills (I) Responses were readily understood; clarifying questions not needed. Uses good grammar and expresses thoughts concisely. Active in the interview with follow-up questions Broadly Diversified Interests (R) Evidence of academic interests outside accounting. Hobbies indicate variety of interests with deep involvement.
