Developing the sophistication of your language Consider some of the following language to help you to develop the sophistication of your expression:

The writer encourages the reader to consider the importance of setting when he notes…. Characterisation is skilfully drawn: the novelist suggests that the central character is …… when he records that he “……” Here, the reader appreciates the importance of the theme through the author’s careful crafting of subtle symbolism.... And so, the theme is powerfully evoked due to the writer’s expert use of dialogue.

The author gives voice to his theme of (insert theme) through this feature as….. Thus, the narrative is made ever-more rich as a result of the novelist’s creation of a dramatic key scene… The reader is moved to understand the centrality of the theme of (insert theme) to the text in this scene as we are encouraged to consider…..

Here, the reader appreciates the importance of the theme through the author’s careful crafting of TECHNIQUE because it helps us understand.... And so, the theme is powerfully evoked due to the writer’s expert use of TECHNIQUE to...
