Conditions of Learning Jody Learning Task: The student (colleague) will be able to install a USB scanner and scan OCR and graphics documents

Learned Type Capability Performance Intellectual Skill Using the Quickstart document, execute the appropriate actions and sequences described. Cognitive Strategy Decide on the type of appropriate scanning type (OCR, graphic) and output (text or graphics format) Motor Skill Follow the steps necessary to connect the USB device

Type of Learning Learned Capability Internal Conditions External Conditions Intellectual Skill Ability to follow step by step rules and instructions Work through the HP ScanJet QuickStart guide Cognitive Strategy Distinguish between text and graphics documents Start by scanning simple black and white graphics document. Progress to colour graphics, then to OCR text and rich text. Motor Skill Connect laptop to docking station Connect and disconnect USB scanning device at each session (shared scanner)

Type of Learning Outcome Learned Capability Essential Prerequisites Supportive Prerequisites Intellectual Skill Ability to follow step by step rules Problem solving attitude Follow verbal instructions from colleagues Cognitive Strategy Discriminate between document types Pattern recognition Motor Skill Able to connect simple devices Problem solving

Instructional Event Event Task Gain attention Demonstrate the end results of a scanned photo or document Inform the learner of the objective Perform a simple scan in front of the user Stimulate the recall of prerequisites Remind the student of where the USB port is located and location of software drivers Presenting the stimulus material Present the 10-minute Quickstart guide, scanner, and docking station Learner Guidance Confirm hardware install, software install, connectivity, and so on. Elicit the performance Ask the user to install and scan a simple document Providing feedback about performance correctness Have the user scan a sample OCR and rich text document. Outcomes should match originals. Assessing the performance Compare scanned documents to originals for clarity, type, can consistency. Enhancing the retention and transfer Have the user scan some of his/her own works
