Learning Outcomes 1. Attendees will learn how to organize a TEDx event for Professional Development. 2. Attendees will learn how TEDx provides engaging and cutting edge information in various disciplines campus wide.

TED Talks and College Academics TED Talks help students stay current and challenge them to learn.  The speakers are experts in their fields.   Many talks are inspirational and challenge students to do better.  Students can learn various public speaking techniques and presentation styles from TED Talks.  TED talks are another form of micro learning – 6-18 minutes.

PD Requirements DCCCD Requirements College District shall require formal professional development activities be completed annually for faculty, administrative, and staff employees in full-time employment status Annually is defined as the 12-month period September 1 - August 31 Employees required to complete 19 clock hours annual

PD Requirements DCCCD Board Policy – DK (LOCAL) 2017 Each College District employee shall meet the professional development standards described by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) as well as any professional development minimums required of the employee by state or federal law and/or regulations or College District policies and procedures.

PD Requirements Meeting 19 Hour Annual Requirement All employee events (Return Week/Convocation) Designated professional development days Monthly training Professional events and conferences Supervisory training programs Staff improvement programs (StrengthsQuest) DCCCD Required Development 19 Hours (First Year) 5 Hours = DCCCD new employee orientation 1 Hours = Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Title IX of the Education Amendments Act DCCCD Sexual Harassment Board Policy 1-2 Hours = DCCCD Emergency Procedures 10 Hours = As determined by each DCCCD location
