A Level Drama & Theatre Transition work: Year 11 into Year 12 Task 1: Reading Buy (or borrow) and read the set text: Equus by Peter Shaffer (Penguin Classics ISBN 9780141188904) Task 2: Research Research & create a PowerPoint based on the work of one of the following theatre practitioners: Bertolt Brecht, Constantin Stanislavski, Steven Berkoff, Antonin Artaud Make sure you include reference to: theatre background, dramatic style, actor/audience relationship, key rehearsal techniques Task 3: Writing Visit the theatre to watch a live performance (this can professional, amateur or a filmed production). Write a mini theatre review (500 words) about the different production elements: director’s aims / acting / staging / lighting / sound / costume Task 4: Performing Read a play of your choice. Select, learn and rehearse a 1 minute monologue from the play. Consider your use of: staging, voice, movement, communication with the audience
