Credit by Exam Revised August 2019
Districts no longer benefit by using Region 16 ESC collaborative to order tests for CBE Districts can choose to order from either the University of Texas (UT) or Texas Tech University Ordering directly from either Texas Tech or University of Texas will decrease the time that it takes for you to receive scores. Districts can order at any time. As a result of some changes with our providers we are looking for a more effective way for you to receive your tests and grades. Region 16 will no longer be ordering tests for districts. If you order paper testing and grading you will save money going with Texas Tech. It’s $25 for a school or campus period. If you want to do online testing and or grading UT has a bulk order to get a better rate of $25 if you don’t meet the bulk rate it’s $35. We believe this will be best for you and your students and will keep things more simplified.

Over 150 Credit by Exams Texas Tech K-12 offers over 150 Credit by Exams (CBEs) to evaluate a student’s mastery of a given subject or discipline relative to Texas standards. These exams align with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and can be used to make up a failed credit or test out of a subject they have already mastered. Once the district purchases a CBE, it will be valid for 6 months. Students are only allowed two attempts per CBE. After two attempts, the student must take the full course. The Set A version for the first attempt will be sent to the district. All CBEs must be administered by an approved proctor.
