VHS Nature Area Trail Maintenance

Trail Maintenance When? Please dress prepared for outdoor field work Tuesday and Wednesday of next week (weather permitting) If it is raining, we will go out later in the week Please dress prepared for outdoor field work Pants, closed-toe shoes, gloves You may bring bug spray if necessary It is pretty shady in the nature area…but you are welcome to bring sun block

Trail Maintenance What will we be doing? Removing excess accumulated leaf litter (rakes) and pushing it off to the side, off of the trail Pulling small plants or weeds that have grown past the trail markers (gloves) Clipping back underbrush Picking up trash

Safety Stay on elevated, flat land Do not move into watery areas or the ravine Do not cross bridges Stay on the trails as much as possible to avoid poison ivy Listen, look, be aware… trees do fall

Have Fun! If we have extra time we may work on tree IDs, water testing, etc…
