Only use commas when they apply to these NINE rules: to set off people’s names or nouns of direct address to set off an appositive to separate two independent thoughts (compound sentences) after introductory elements (phrases, clauses, transitions) in dates and addresses (letter headings) around interrupters between consecutive adjectives to separate items in a series/lists with dialogue tags
