Lecture Capture Overview Lecture Capture is; At minimum, audio plus screen contents (e.g. PowerPoint) Known as ‘vodcast’ Available 24 x 7 Audio and video synchronized and indexed for ease of navigation Can also include instructor video (talking head) Supports ‘blended learning’ Used to enhance traditional lecture format Instructor may record materials for review prior to class Effective means of providing supplemental materials Prerecorded lectures – instructors can ‘flip’ classroom; use class time for more interaction/benefit 7 October 2013 UTFAB Presentation

LC Overview – cont’ Echo360 endorsed as a centrally supported standard for campus, Fall of 2011 Collaborative effort between UTFAB, CHHS, OnlinePlus , ACNS and the CRB Supports two modes for recording Personal capture – software loaded on desktop/laptop, managed by instructor Used in many, varied and creative ways Classroom capture – appliance-based; hardware dedicated to room 7 October 2013 UTFAB Presentation
