Waves no matter what type, all have properties. Height is a property of waves no matter if it’s a ripple in a glass or a giant wave at the beach, it can.

Four Important Properties of Waves. 1.Reflection 2.Refraction 3.Diffraction 4.Interference.
Reflection happens when a wave bounces back after hitting a barrier. All waves-including water, sound, and light waves-can be reflected.
Wave Behavior - Reflection  the bouncing back of a wave after it strikes a barrier.  All waves, sound, light, water, EMS, etc., can be reflected!! 

Wave Behavior Study Pack #12

Reflection Occurs when a wave hits a surface and bounces off Examples: You can hear your echo because sound waves bounce off walls and floors You can see your reflection because light bounces off your face and a mirror

Reflection The image formed by a reflection depends on how smooth the surface is Page 237, Figure 11

Refraction The bending of a wave as it moves from one medium into another Example: Objects under water look like they are in a different position or are broken

Refraction Rainbows are caused by refraction When sunlight enters a rain drop, the light bends Because the light contains different colors and the colors bend at different angles, you can see all the different colors as the light exits the rain drop Page 239

Diffraction The bending of waves around an object (a barrier or obstacle) Example: You may be able to hear the band playing down a hallway
