Figure 1 The Nestin+ Mx1+ MSC Pool Is Largely Osteolineage Selective, with Limited Adipocytic Conversion, and Is Able to Home to Distant Sites Where It Undergoes Osteoblastic Differentiation This lineage-preferred, self-replicating stable subpopulation holds significant promise for bone repair and regeneration. Other similar pools committed to chondrocytic, fibroblastic, and myocytic lineages may also exist within the niche.
