Anas reported that Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) breathed three times (outside the vessel) in the course of a drink and said: “It is more thirst- quenching, healthier and more wholesome.” [Muslim, 23/5030] This means that a normal gulp = in three sips Scientifically proven that drinking in small doses is healthier for you. Etiquettes of Drinking 3. Is it makruh to drink while standing? It is better to sit down and drink. Difference in opinion: Ibn Taymiyyah, An Nawawi and majority of scholars: drink while sitting if you are able. If there is any reason for which you must stand and drink, its completely fine.
