3. Create a mapping template that works for your program Lots of ways to do this – anything from post it notes to software. Create can also mean ‘adopt’. Borrow / steal Whatever works. Don’t reinvent the wheel.

4. Map EPAs to existing training experiences In reality, this will be mostly rotations, but include other experiences if applicable.

Reverse: EPAs to Rotations Reverse mapping – EPA’s to Rotations. At-a-glance view of what’s reasonable to achieve on a given rotation. Created from original EPA map and provided to Rotation Coordinator for review and validation at a workshop. Edits made. Resident champion included in the process at rotation level.

5. Validate the distribution of EPAs across the stages of training Do your rotations line up with expectations for Stages?

7. Build in a review process with the goal of continuous improvement Thank goodness the Royal College recognizes the transition to CBME will be an iterative process. Skip the 5-year plan for now. Take a recipe approach – stir, taste, adjust as needed. Is there an EPA that’s hard for everyone to get? Are there rotations where few EPAs are being assessed? Are there EPA’s that are regularly assessed but rarely achieved?
