2 Timothy 3:16, 17 (all passages from NASB) All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for: teaching for reproof for correction for training in righteousness So that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work
John 17: 22, 23 22 The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; 23 I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.
2 Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. John 3:16 THE TRUTH OF HELL: it is going to torture all those lost souls who do not come to know and accept Jesus Christ as their Savior AND Lord.
Rom 14:15 “For if because of food your brother is hurt, you are no longer walking according to love. Do not destroy with your food him for whom Christ died. Add Rom 5:6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. And the culmination, John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that who- ever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
We are very familiar with the words of Jesus in John 10: (paraphrased) I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, but the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, but the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
John 10: 9, 10 I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, but the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. Mtt 7:21-23 declares there will be those who cry “Lord, Lord” and “we cast out demons and prophesied in your name” but Jesus says it is those who do the will of my Father who will enter the Kingdom and to those who He does not know - will be forced to depart from Him.
And in Luke 13:22-28 Jesus says that once the head of the house enters he will shut the door and those left standing outside will declare that they ate and drank with Him and listened to His teachings YET they will be told to depart and in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (like the 10 / 5 Virgins, Mt 25:1-13 out in the cold – but not the cold.)
In Mtt 3:12 John the Baptist says of Jesus: His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor; and He will gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. In Mtt 5:29 Jesus says it is better to pluck out your eye and avoid stumbling in sin and thus avoid being thrown into hell.
In Mtt 8:11,12 Jesus says: “I say to you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven but the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
And in a final spot light – look at Mtt 25:31- 46 the Goats vs the Sheep. In this parable when the goats/sheep ask about feeding, drinking, inviting strangers in, clothing and visiting in prison - Jesus replies that doing these things or refusing to do these things = doing them to HIM which will result in either eternal life or eternal punishment which, according to Mtt 22:13,14, “rejects will be cast into outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
If you need confirmation of the goat/sheep story Jesus then remember the parable in Luke 16 – The Rich Man and Lazarus – where the rich man declares that he is in agony in this flame and wants just a drop of water on his tongue. Now of interest you might notice that the rich man asks Abraham to send Lazarus to his 5 brothers so they can avoid the place he is in – Abraham’s reply: “They have Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.” REALLY???? (Judas, Peter, the 12)(N.T.)
Last week = love, concern, support – even to the pt of allowing a wrong to occur without resorting to law suits, even to not eating meat any longer to avoid being a stumbling block. Now, how much concern, love and worry should we have for those who are lost in endanger of being sent to hell????? God = so much concern He sacrificed His only begotten Son on the Cross. Us?????
