Switch Change Framework The Switch Change Framework describes how to find a balance between the emotional and rational components of our decision-making behavior. It begins with the premise that our emotional and intuitive brain can sometimes overcome the rational decision-making side of the brain. However, relying solely on rational thought is also counterproductive because it tends to lead to overthinking. Therefore, by establishing a change process based around a goal, there is balance between the two systems in which the rational side of the brain has a clear path of thought, and the emotional side of the brain is fueled by motivation towards that goal. Switch Change Framework Direct the Rider Motivate the Elephant Shape the Path 1. Find Bright Spots 4. Find the Feeling 7. Tweak the Environment Change is difficult because we don’t know what to change to. Replicate successes. You can’t analyze change exactly, but you must instead feel excited about change. Make the path to success smoother instead of blaming people. 2. Script Critical Moves 5. Shrink Change 8. Build Habits Make sure everyone knows how to change. Make the change easier by making many smaller goals to achieve. Make the change habitual so there is less conflict. 3. Point to Destination 6. Grow Your People 9. Rally the Herd Make sure you know what the end goal of change is. Appeal to an identity that makes people feel strong and competent. Make sure everyone is onboard with the change because otherwise, they may follow others. Want more tools and templates? Visit https://upboard.io/
