Rationale Raising aspirations and achievement. A dialogue between HE and L3. Engage more staff than just HE contact – a community of practice. Work to change the culture of partner schools and colleges around access to HE. Indirectly improve retention.

NOT JUST ANOTHER RESOURCE What is S4IL? 10 lessons. Product of partnership working, focus groups…. CPD for teachers. Offer of on-going engagement through community of practice. Student Ambassadors trained in supporting literacy attached to schools and colleges for entire academic year. Symposium in 2013 for teachers and academics. ‘Bolt-ons’ such as ‘S4IL Home’…. NOT JUST ANOTHER RESOURCE

Progress 300+ teachers engaged. Currently being delivered in 2 partners (3 more on line by Xmas). CPD well received by staff and hits the right buttons ( disdain for ‘spoon feeding’ at L3).

Next Challenge Models to really embed in wider teaching (or for teachers to give it a ‘call back’). Evaluating impact. Keeping momentum. Rolling out across London.
