Pearl and dean research Primary research

I believe that the suitable target range for our thriller would be within the 16-25 age range. The reason why this is our age range is because due to the content involved in our opening sequence we as a group feel that by decreasing the target audience age it would benefit more by being suited for a more advanced demographic age as the popularity would increase more. However if we were to lower the target market age then In addition we would undoubtedly drive away a large portion of older viewers. By me researching it is apparent that from the tables shown that the increase target age is suitable.

Gone girl Hostage Die hard

Gender A lot of information can be draw from the tables. Something which is important is gender. In the tables it shows that thrillers seem to be more popular with the males rather than women apart from gone girl which has a 64% to 36%. The reason why males are the most dominating gender in watching thrillers could be due to the content e.g. the violence and suspense. This is because mean are traditionally the stronger and braver gender as they are seen as the dominating and leading roles in society especially in todays generation. Moreover this is also seen in the roles which characters play as men normally play the protagonist roles. This is interesting because in all the films I have research men are the hero's and women always play the weaker and vulnerable characters.

Our targeted gender Moreover there are other influences which is why thrillers are more popular with men, such as the level of violence, this is because violence is much more popular with men as men seem to like the tense and excitement which violence creates rather than rom coms which women seem to prefer. Due to men preferring violence the target gender for our sequence will be ideally men as the film would be much more popular with men. However it will also be popular with women because the antagonist will be seen as innocent, therefore women will be able to relate more. Although men will ideally be our main target audience but that doesn’t mean women cant watch It.

Conclusion Throughout our primary research we decided to collected information regarding our potential audience through interviewing many students in our school. The reason why we chose to do this was because by asking people within our target age the results would be more valid and reliable.

School interviews Primary research

Most of the males which we interviews stated that they prefect films with a lot of action. The results related with the tables from the Paul and Dean site. For example he had stated that his favourite genre was horror and thrillers. We then asked him what he looks for in a film and he stated action and not romance. This shows that the gender suited for our sequence must be male orientated.

Conculsion Moreover by boys stating they prefect action and thriller films it shows us that it would be more wise to market our thriller towards the 15-24 range. Even though the majority of females stated that romantic comedy's where their favourite.
