Principles of the Constitution Limited Government

Our Purpose Understand what the principle of Limited Government means. Understand why the Founding Fathers would have wanted to include Limited Government in the Constitution. Prepare to analyze how this principle is reflected in the Constitution.

What is it? Don’t just read from the screen. Do you get it? Circle any words on your sheet that you don’t understand and look them up at dictionary.com. Choose one word and write it down and define it on your handout.

Basic Understanding

Historical Context Think about- Do you think presidents and kings should have to follow the law? Are there times when the government can suspend their limits to what’s best for the common good? If you believe that a ruler has to follow the laws then you believe in the rule of law. Let’s see what that means.
