Proliferation assays were determined in 96-well plates, seeding 10,000 cells/well. LNCaP cells were serum starved for 24 h and treated with 5α-dihydrotestosterone ± insulin-like growth factor I (A) or epidermal growth factor (B) for an additional 96 h. The 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide dye method was used to determine change in cell number. Data shown are derived from a single experiment with each condition replicated in 16 wells/96-well plate. Similar results were observed in two subsequent cell proliferation assays.
