Rediscovering Who Yeshua is? Matthew 16:16

“Living Proof” (The Resurrection of Jesus)

“HE IS LIVING PROOF” proof - evidence or argument establishing or helping to establish a fact or the truth of a statement proofs – (Greek) Tekmērion - that from which something is surely and plainly known, indubitable evidence

“HE IS LIVING PROOF” Acts 1:3 … he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them… See Me Hear Me Touch Me

HE APPEARED TO THEM

Appearance #1 – First Morning (Mary) John 20:15-16 (NAS) 15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing Him to be the gardener, she said to Him, “Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to Him in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (which means, Teacher).

Appearance #2 – First Morning (Women) Matthew 28:8-10 (NAS) 8 And they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to report it to His disciples. 9 And behold, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and take word to My brethren to leave for Galilee, and there they will see Me.

Appearance #3 – First Day (The disciples on the Road to Emmaus) (Luke 24:13 – 31) Luke 24:30-31 (NIV) 30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.

Appearance #4 – First Day (Peter) Luke 24:33-34 33 And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, gathered together 34 and saying, “The Lord has indeed risen, and He has appeared to Simon!” 1 Corinthians 15:4 (NLT) 4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. 5 He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve.

Appearance #5 – First Day (11 Disciples) John 20:19-20 (NIV) 19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

Appearance #5 – First Day (11 Disciples) Luke 24:39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”

Appearance 6# - 2nd Sunday (Thomas) John 20:26-29 (NAS) 26 After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.” 27 Then He said to Thomas, “Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.”

Appearance 6# - 2nd Sunday (Thomas) John 20:26-29 (NAS) 28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed

Appearance #8 – (Go to Galilee) Disciples John 21:1-3 1 Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee. a It happened this way: 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. 3 “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing

Appearance 9 # - (Over 500 of His followers at one time) 1 Corinthians 15:4-6 (NLT) 4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. 5 He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. 6 After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died.

Appearance 10# - (James his half brother) 1 Corinthians 15:7 Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles. this would have been a incredible and intimate encounter with the brother that he grew up with who had a hard time realizing who He really was

Appearance 11 # - (Disciples) the day of or day before ascension Matthew 28:16-20 (NASB) 16 But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

Appearance 11 # - (Disciples) the day of or day before ascension Matthew 28:16-20 (NASB) 19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Appearance 12# - (The Ascension) Luke 24:50-53 (NAS) 50 And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. 51 While He was blessing them, He parted from them and was carried up into heaven. 52 And they, after worshiping Him, returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53 and were continually in the temple praising God.

Appearance 12# - (The Ascension) Acts 1:9-11 9 And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. 11 They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.

“Living Proof” (The Resurrection of Jesus) The Resurrection of Jesus is proof that it is all true If Jesus did not raise from the dead it is all a lie 1 Corinthians 15:14, 17 (NAS) 14 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain… 17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. *The Resurrection is the final proof that Jesus Christ is who He claimed to be.

1. The Living Proof of the Resurrected Jesus proves that He is the Son of God. The fact that Jesus Christ died on the cross does not prove in itself He is God. Jesus proved His deity by fulfilling the prophecies of His death and by His return from the grave. The Bible declares that "by being raised from the dead [Christ] was proved to be the mighty Son of God, with the holy nature of God Himself" (Romans 1:4, The Living Bible)

2. The Living Proof of the Resurrected Jesus proves that He can forgive my sin. The Bible asserts, "If Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins" (1 Corinthians 15:17). By rising from the dead, Jesus proved His authority and power to break the bonds of sin and to assure forgiveness and eternal life to all who accept His gift of salvation.

3. The Living Proof of the Resurrected Jesus proves that He has power over death. The Bible records, "Christ rose from the dead and will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him" (Romans 6:9, TLB). The Resurrection secured our victory over death as well and "lifted us up from the grave into glory along with Christ, where we sit with him in the heavenly realms" (Ephesians 2:6).

4. The Living Proof of the Resurrected Jesus proves that He has defeated Satan. From the moment of his original rebellion until the day of the Cross, the devil fought viciously and cunningly to overthrow the kingdom of God. Satan must have thought he had dealt the final and decisive blow in this age-old war. But this was the devil's most serious miscalculation. The Cross was heaven's triumph. And when Jesus Christ arose, the power of sin and death was forever shattered. Because of the Resurrection, Christians need never fear Satan or death again.
