Reading Expectations Your child will develop their reading skills during Guided Reading sessions every morning. We want children to enjoy reading and share books with you at home. We will be having a reading challenge this year so watch this space! Please read with your child every day, talking about what you have read and then complete and sign the reading records.

Homework At Forty Hill we believe that children should be children and so we do not place a major emphasis on homework. However, we do understand that parents like children to continue their learning at home and so we offer the ‘Homework Grid’. Homework from the grid will be acknowledged marked by the teaching team. This year, we have also published spelling lists on the class page of the website. These state the week that the spellings will be tested during. In year 6, children will also receive maths homework most weeks. There is additional maths homework that can be found on the class page of the website. Please do not complete old SATS tests at home as these are use for assessment purposes in school and can hinder progress if results are inaccurate due to already completing the test.

Homework

School Uniform Ties to be worn if wearing a shirt Children should always be smart Hair should be tied back if long No nail varnish and stud earrings only Ties to be worn if wearing a shirt All shirts to be tucked in Full PE kit to be in school at all times

Attendance and Punctuality Please make sure your child is in school and on time. Being late has an impact on your child’s attendance record. Attendance is important. Research shows that a 1% increase in attendance can lead to a 5% increase in attainment. However, please do not send your child to school if they are sick!

Medicines Please be aware that ALL medicines must be administered by Mrs Vial or one of the school’s trained first aiders (all support staff). Please send all medicines into school with a cover note.

Parking/ Dropping Off and Picking up Children Please park in the Forty Hall car park or at Jesus Church and walk down to school. The entrance to the school during the school day is via the Church meadow path. If you wish for your child to walk home alone, please send an email or letter to the office.

These must be turned off and handed in to the office. Phones If your child is walking home on their own, we recognise that they may need to bring their phone to school. These must be turned off and handed in to the office. Phones must not be used in school- please remind your child that this includes the playground. Please note, we can take no responsibility for any phone brought into school.

Our new website… Please make sure you have given your up to date email addresses to the office http://www.fortyhill.com
