ATST Instrument Interface Overview Rob Hubbard Freiburg – October 2008

Internal Interfaces Instrument Systems One or the other, not both Polarimetry Analysis and Calibration (GOS) Synchro Bus Instrument Control System One or the other, not both Instrument Lab Facility Thermal Control We don’t need both an interface between the ICS and the Cameras, and between the instruments and cameras (unless the latter is mechanical). We need to decide how much the ICS is controlling instrument components. Note that there are some “hidden interfaces”. For example the Instrument Control System does communicate with the GOS, but does so via the TCS. Instrument Lab Facility Instruments VBI ViSP NIRSP VTF Cameras Instrument Systems Überinstrument

External Interfaces Instruments to the Coudé Feed Optics This describes the beam which is being supplied to the instruments. Instruments to Telescope Mount Assembly The TMA includes the coudé rotator This is primarily a mechanical interface
