Objectives Share and disseminate Member States' knowledge on ICM and Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) in the context of adaptation Gather information on adaptation measures that could be taken now

Five parallel tasks Overview of Member State policies and measures Supporting the development of guidance for Member States on ICM and MSP implementation Updating OURCOAST case studies Integrating OURCOAST with other databases Communicate project work

Task A: Overview of MS policies and measures Main activities: Gathering information from Member States, in particular via a questionnaire – to be mailed in late August * Literature search, focusing on EU projects and information, to ‘pre-fill’ questionnaire We would like two volunteers to ‘test’ the questionnaire * * Interaction with expert group ADDED: pre-filling and testing

Task A: Overview of MS policies and measures Main outputs: Fact sheets on all Member States (early 2014) An inventory of measures, focusing on ICM measures in the context of adaptation (early 2014) Two in-depth case studies of measures (mid 2014) Input to the other tasks (especially guidance)

Task B: Development of guidance Aim: a guidance document to support Member States – including regional/local administrations where relevant – implement MSP and ICM principles Main inputs: Task A results Expert group discussions on guidance * Discussions in workshops and meetings (e.g. Maritime Days)

Task C: Updating OURCOAST http://ec.europa.eu/ourcoast/

Task C: Updating OURCOAST Main activities: Review current OURCOAST case studies for relevance Request updates where needed * Collect new case studies, including on erosion * Prepare four new case studies that include a quantification of costs and benefits Link results with CLIMATE-ADAPT

Task D: Integrating OURCOAST with other EU databases Feasibility study on options for integrating OURCOAST with another database and for strengthening links with other EU databases (late 2013) Including CLIMATE-ADAPT, WISE (and WISE-RTD), European Atlas of the Sea and others Assess Member State data sharing *

Task E: Communication Our newsletter (first issue coming out this summer) A new page and other revisions to the OURCOAST web pages Participating in selected expert meetings: HELCOM Workshop on Baltic Sea region climate change and its implications (February 2013, Warnemünde, Germany) PartiSEApate Workshop on climate change adaptations and maritime spatial planning in the Baltic Sea (May 2013, Skanör, Sweden) Maritime Days (May 2013, Valletta): Workshop on supporting adaptation efforts in coastal and maritime areas through guidance and good practice examples
