World War One Study Guide Mr. Marley’s Class Social Studies – Team 602

Part One – Vocabulary Please use six of the following terms in a poem describing WWI. Underline each word used: assassination, alliances, nationalism, Allied Powers, Central Powers, trenches, Communism, Isolationism, front.

Part Two: Short Answer Questions How did an assassination in Sarajevo lead to World War I? Describe the ways that trench warfare contributed to a long, bloody war. Name the key nations fighting one another in World War I. Why did Russia withdraw from the fighting in World War I? What were the most important results of World War I?

Part Three: Map Skills Please be able to identify the following items on a map: The Allied Powers, The Central Powers, The Neutral Powers, The Western Front, The Eastern Front, The Southern Front, The direction of German invasion, the site of the assassination of Franz Ferdinand.

Part Four: Chronological Events You will be given a lists of events that occurred between 1914-1918. To successfully complete this section, you must put them in the order from which they occurred.
