Western blot analysis for bFGF expression in human glioma cell lines. Western blot analysis for bFGF expression in human glioma cell lines. Fifty micrograms of cellular protein from each cell line or 100 ng rh-bFGF (Santa Cruz Biotechnology) was subjected to 10% SDS-PAGE and probed with bFGF antibody. Three bFGF isoforms (18, 22, and 24 kDa) were translated from the same mRNA template. The same blot was stripped and reanalyzed with β-actin antibody for demonstration of even loading. bFGF was highly expressed in A-172, EFC-2, and U-87 MG cell lines. The expression levels were relatively lower in U-251 MG and HF-U-251 MG cells. Without extensive exposure to the X-ray film, bFGF was barely detected in NG-1 and LG-11 cells.
